"Vampires Suck" a Twilight Parody

"Vampires Suck" is the fifth of many parody movies directed, produced, and written by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, the latter a fellow Canadian born in Mississauga, Ontario.

Finally someone came out with a movie that makes fun of Twilight, and I have to say they do a pretty good job doing it. There are other references to other popular Vampire shows, but the bulk of the movie is about Twilight. From Bella's stuttering and lip biting, to Jacob taking his shirt off for attention, this movie takes every little thing that makes Twilight great and just makes you want to laugh at it.

I walked into this movie knowing it would be pretty bad, and after seeing "Date Movie" and "Epic Movie" I expected less and less. However hating Twilight as much as I do, I feel like they thoroughly got the point across in the way they directed the movie like the Twilight Series and compressed it.

The movie starts out like the second film "New Moon", in Italy, then flashes back to the beginning of "Twilight" in a little town called Sporks. Just like the film series, the film is about a girl "Becca" who's adjusting to a new life, in a new town, with a new set of people. She meets the Sullens, whom she feels are different from everyone else in a cold, pale skin kind of way. In that family she meets Edward Sullen whom she feels a strange attraction to.

What jumps out of the page is definitely the ending. It's not like Breaking Dawn, where the last volume is kind of...or at least I think horribly written and it's just such a filler...but the ending of this movie is definitely something that makes up for the movie.

The Other Guys - umm...wow?

"This movie is gonna be so funny!" Mark M. High School Friend, fellow movie lover.

I think for the first time since I started writing reviews or really watching movies avidly, this is the first, or one of the first times I went without knowing anything about the movie. I refused to watch the trailer or have anyone tell me what the movie was about before I saw it. That way I'm hoping to have an unbiased review for one.

Let's just say....I wasn't too pleased with this movie. I'd heard very little about it, so I tried to keep an open mind, but even with that open mind I still couldn't enjoy it.

"The Other Guys" is a film, basically how the police forces may work. You've got your real cops who go out there with their shiny guns, and bad attitude, but they get the job done. Then you get all the cops who work in the building. Still cops, but they don't get much of the action. The film describes how it's not just the real cops who go out there and get the job done, but also the 'other guys' on the inside of the police force who also do the right thing and get the job done. Did that sound confusing?

It might be a little easier to understand what I just said literally at the very end, when the narrator explains.
Other than that, I feel as though there was little plot and little to keep me interested. There was humour yes, but I felt as though there was a lot of dry humour that just wasn't very funny.

If you're really interested, watch it online or wait for it to come out. Don't go to the theater.

my iPod is dying TAT

so.....the headphone jack on my iPod video 5th gen 30gb is like totally going out on me...and I kinda don't want a new one.

for those of you who know me, I'm always talking about getting a iTouch but not like this. I wanted my iPod to legit die before I consider getting a new one. I like being someone with a really old gen iPod...it's just about 4 years old!!! >3

hopefully I can send it in and fix it...but I can't live without my music...I just can't....it's so hard, it makes me go crazy. And for those of you who think I CAN live without it, you obviously don't know me very well.

cross your figers! <3

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World... is EPIC!

For once I do not have a quote to share :(

The caption of the theatrical poster is "An epic of epic epicness" (try saying that three times fast). That is EXACTLY what Scott Pilgrim is - epic.

Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera). 23. Normal. Plays Bass in a Band...Has no luck with girls...but is suddenly dating a high school girl (can you say pedo? lol) His life suddenly gets a little hard to keep track of when he meets the mysterious Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead). In order to officially start dating her he has to defeat her seven evil Exes. Not so easy when you're trying to juggle life, a band, a Chinese girlfriend, your gay gossiping roommate, sister, friends, not to mention your reputation (if any).

One thing this film is definately not lacking is the amount of colour. You can tell the set designers, light designers and even costume designers spent a lot of time translating the comic into a film that was bright and fun. If you've read the graphic novels, you'll know that the fight scenes mimic those of classic fighting video games like Street Fighter or Tekken. The film was well directed and did stay true to that interesting twist on one on one battles.

As a Canadian and fellow Torontonian I was very happy (almost extatic) to see Honest Ed's in a couple of the scenes in the film. Other tourist attractions can be seen if you look closely. The plot is simple and easy to follow if you've never read the books. And I can honestly say there is never a dull moment. Either when it comes to the simple comedic tones of the actors voices when speaking, the script, the lame jokes that just happened to be funny, and the epic fight scenes, Scott Pilgrim definitely delivers.

INCEPTION - to go beyond the d r e a m

"This movie doesn't need to be in 3D" James B. Avid movie buff, friend from High School.

With all the 3D films coming out this year, it's almost a relief to find a non-3D film that will blow your mind. (pun intended)

What you know, or what you THINK you know about dreams will come in handy when watching this film.
Have you noticed similarities between dreams? Can you train yourself within your dream to be able to control it? and most important - When do you know it's a Dream and when it's Reality?

Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio), is part of a team of con-artists who steal ideas of inventors for big shot corporations. His missions consist of breaking into a person's dream, stealing what is protected and hidden in the mind. One day a big shot energy tycoon Saito (Ken Watanabe) offers him the chance at his freedom in return for one last job - to plant a thought into someone's mind and make it a reality.

There is no part of this movie that isn't interesting, from chase scenes to simple conversation on how the mind works. When it comes down to the final mission, the writers definately did not fail to deliver. Just when you think you have things figured out, Cobb's dark past manages to spoil all their plans or something not according to plan jumps into the mix. It's definitely a movie that'll will keep you staring at the screen in wonder up to the credits.

"Inception" is definitely something you'll want to see a second time.

Weekend of AWESOME!~with Bri

So this is Part 2 of our EPIK ODYSSEY! except instead of one day it turned into a weekend. I swear I can't get enough of this girl. She's my BFF but she lives far away so when I get to see her I like to spend as much time with her as possible (of course keeping in mind she has other people she needs to see c: )

The morning was pretty tedious. I had to go to the eye doctor to check my eyes because I'm at high risk of getting Gloxcoma (sp) which is where I lose my peripheral vision, but so far I'm okay.
Then I went to the subway and to meet Bri and what happened was she misinterpreted my texts, so when I got to the meeting spot she left to go meet me at another station FAIL! haha.

After that we went to the Square to buy matching Swarovski necklaces. I bought hers for her birthday and they match and they're really cute! <3 Anyway after that we headed to ChinaTown to check this store for a wristband I wanted...but turns out they moved! HOW DEPRESSING! >3< so we took the Streetcar back to the Subway and headed out to P-Mall.

Now our reason for going to P-Mall was several. Shopping for Clothes, Photobooth Pictures, Food, and Anime Related stuff.
So the first thing we did was buy food cause we were pretty hungry. Went to the photobooth store to write down our frame numbers, then looked around literally the ENTIRE MALL for clothes. And I was quite put out because before I would walk into every store and wanted something...and now I couldn't find like one thing I wanted...so I was depressed. But Bri found something which made me happy :) Went into the Adult Store, then Anime shoppe to look at Figures, Posters and Wall Scrolls, then got our Photos taken which is SO CUTE! But she looks better than I do XP!

After that I called my dad cause we were done...and then kept browsing the mall some more. I was really shocked to find one of the stores, practically the only LEGIT store in the mall...selling a COPYRIGHTTED BAG made by an artist I follow on DA. Naturally I was upset so I took pictures...we were practicaly CHASED out of the store which was hysterical and then were picked up and went home.

Got my sleepover stuff and headed to Bri's place. Had some awesome cocktails and remenissed over Pictures. Watched XENA SEASON 1 - for the win! Made a video...ummm...didn't do that much. Ate yummy chinese dumpings and went to bed.

The house was empty Sunday so we ended up Swimming most of the day, had a little lunch, more Xena, more YouTube Videos (fail I love Justin Bieber videos), more swimming and then I went home.

It was a really tiring weekend but it was worth it by a long shot!

went on an EPIK ODYSSEY around Toronto!

Who would have thought that on a random Tuesday afternoon...in the span of like 4 hours...I'd run from one end of Toronto to the next...HOW FREAKING AWESOME IS THAT!?

So yesterday my girlfriend Brielle came down from Halifax to visit once a year like she always does. We had lunch together and then decided to hang out after I was finished work.

What was supposed to be an innocent afternoon turned into a little too much fun!

We started off at Eaton Centre Indigo cause I had just finished "Bite Me" by Christopher Moore so I had to pick up some new reading material for work. I picked up "Bloodsucking Fiends" also by Christopher Moore (I love his books they're amazing!) and I picked up "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo". Brielle told me it was good and frankly a lot of people have been reading it, it doesn't take a lot for me to say no to people's book recommendations.

So after that we headed down to Hairy T's to browse for Manga and what not. Chatted up with the owner and other employee for a bit. People are always so nice there :)

Then we headed to Church Street to hang out in The Village for a while. Picked up some Starbucks and headed to Bloor for the Subway. Got off at Bathurst and started looking for Beguiling and Labryinth. We spent a good 15-20 looking for Labryinth....(We went to the APPLE store earlier to look for a map and we found it...but were stupid enough not to take a picture of the map). So we ended up not finding Labryinth, but thanks to my awesome photographic memory skills and Brielle's awesome convincing, we ended up finding Beguiling which was right across the street from the Subway behind Honest Eds...go figure hahaha.

Brielle found her Manga there, I so far..didn't find anything. (I found a lot at Hairy T's but I had to resist!!!!)  So after we left we decided to head to ChinaTown to check out AnimeExtreme. Got on the subway, got off at Spadina and Street-Car-ed there and went inside. Thankfully we made it with 30 Minutes to spare and started browsing. I ABSOLUTELY DESPISE HOW LIKE NONE OF THE STORES WERE AIRCONDITIONED! LIKE C'MON!

So we go in there..it's really hot...I find my yaoi! <3 YAY!!!! and the cutest most awesome Sebastian plush keychain ever! I should totally put a picture up! >3< and then...we had to leave.

So with Bri and her Yuri that she found at Hairy T's and Beguiling, my Yaoi from AnimeExtreme and my plush...we decided to walk to Dundas...get there at about 8PM and subway. She's reading her Yuri...I'm reading my Yaoi...we're just two of a pair.

Love you Bri <3 MWAH
