The Other Guys - umm...wow?

"This movie is gonna be so funny!" Mark M. High School Friend, fellow movie lover.

I think for the first time since I started writing reviews or really watching movies avidly, this is the first, or one of the first times I went without knowing anything about the movie. I refused to watch the trailer or have anyone tell me what the movie was about before I saw it. That way I'm hoping to have an unbiased review for one.

Let's just say....I wasn't too pleased with this movie. I'd heard very little about it, so I tried to keep an open mind, but even with that open mind I still couldn't enjoy it.

"The Other Guys" is a film, basically how the police forces may work. You've got your real cops who go out there with their shiny guns, and bad attitude, but they get the job done. Then you get all the cops who work in the building. Still cops, but they don't get much of the action. The film describes how it's not just the real cops who go out there and get the job done, but also the 'other guys' on the inside of the police force who also do the right thing and get the job done. Did that sound confusing?

It might be a little easier to understand what I just said literally at the very end, when the narrator explains.
Other than that, I feel as though there was little plot and little to keep me interested. There was humour yes, but I felt as though there was a lot of dry humour that just wasn't very funny.

If you're really interested, watch it online or wait for it to come out. Don't go to the theater.

my iPod is dying TAT

so.....the headphone jack on my iPod video 5th gen 30gb is like totally going out on me...and I kinda don't want a new one.

for those of you who know me, I'm always talking about getting a iTouch but not like this. I wanted my iPod to legit die before I consider getting a new one. I like being someone with a really old gen iPod...it's just about 4 years old!!! >3

hopefully I can send it in and fix it...but I can't live without my music...I just can't....it's so hard, it makes me go crazy. And for those of you who think I CAN live without it, you obviously don't know me very well.

cross your figers! <3

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World... is EPIC!

For once I do not have a quote to share :(

The caption of the theatrical poster is "An epic of epic epicness" (try saying that three times fast). That is EXACTLY what Scott Pilgrim is - epic.

Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera). 23. Normal. Plays Bass in a Band...Has no luck with girls...but is suddenly dating a high school girl (can you say pedo? lol) His life suddenly gets a little hard to keep track of when he meets the mysterious Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead). In order to officially start dating her he has to defeat her seven evil Exes. Not so easy when you're trying to juggle life, a band, a Chinese girlfriend, your gay gossiping roommate, sister, friends, not to mention your reputation (if any).

One thing this film is definately not lacking is the amount of colour. You can tell the set designers, light designers and even costume designers spent a lot of time translating the comic into a film that was bright and fun. If you've read the graphic novels, you'll know that the fight scenes mimic those of classic fighting video games like Street Fighter or Tekken. The film was well directed and did stay true to that interesting twist on one on one battles.

As a Canadian and fellow Torontonian I was very happy (almost extatic) to see Honest Ed's in a couple of the scenes in the film. Other tourist attractions can be seen if you look closely. The plot is simple and easy to follow if you've never read the books. And I can honestly say there is never a dull moment. Either when it comes to the simple comedic tones of the actors voices when speaking, the script, the lame jokes that just happened to be funny, and the epic fight scenes, Scott Pilgrim definitely delivers.

INCEPTION - to go beyond the d r e a m

"This movie doesn't need to be in 3D" James B. Avid movie buff, friend from High School.

With all the 3D films coming out this year, it's almost a relief to find a non-3D film that will blow your mind. (pun intended)

What you know, or what you THINK you know about dreams will come in handy when watching this film.
Have you noticed similarities between dreams? Can you train yourself within your dream to be able to control it? and most important - When do you know it's a Dream and when it's Reality?

Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio), is part of a team of con-artists who steal ideas of inventors for big shot corporations. His missions consist of breaking into a person's dream, stealing what is protected and hidden in the mind. One day a big shot energy tycoon Saito (Ken Watanabe) offers him the chance at his freedom in return for one last job - to plant a thought into someone's mind and make it a reality.

There is no part of this movie that isn't interesting, from chase scenes to simple conversation on how the mind works. When it comes down to the final mission, the writers definately did not fail to deliver. Just when you think you have things figured out, Cobb's dark past manages to spoil all their plans or something not according to plan jumps into the mix. It's definitely a movie that'll will keep you staring at the screen in wonder up to the credits.

"Inception" is definitely something you'll want to see a second time.
